Brighton's most haunted quarter

The Lanes occupies what was once the original fishing settlement of Brighthelmstone – it is the oldest part of the city and, unquestionably, the most haunted. 

Despite the friendly ambience in evidence today, lingering reminders of the area’s dark past still remain. Many of its former residents still lurk in one form or another.

This small quarter, with its labyrinth of passageways and tightly packed buildings, has played host to all manner of paranormal goings-on. There is hardly a street or passageway that does not have a spectral connection.

Enter this myriad of shadowy “twitterns” and you may sense the troubled souls adrift in their netherworld. The more spiritually attuned amongst you might even experience something a little more unsettling!
